Dropping rhymes on Slater St…

I was made up to be involved with this event at Drop The Dumbells on Slater Street last week. A funky crowd was rammed into the back of the venue to hear four poetry sets, then a couple of hilarious rap battles. Later we had the funktastic ‘party-on-stage’ vibes of Fire Beneath the Sea and some rootsy folk-rock from Rumjig. Everything was filmed and will surely appear online before long, thanks to multi-media master and mistress of ceremonies Jake Stig. Dumbells is already proving to be a nice complement to the boho vibes of Mello Mello next door. Liverpool’s cultural death throes are some distance off yet…
